The Probation Department provides comprehensive written probation investigation reports for the twenty-four criminal courts in Columbia County. The information contained in these reports assist the judges in making decisions relative to the disposition of criminal cases pending before them.
Since January 2009, this department has utilized the COMPAS software for creating Pre-Sentence and Pre-Plea Reports for the courts. COMPAS will be explained in more detail later in this description of services. Investigation/reports are also conducted for Family Court regarding JD’s, PINS, Custody/Visitations, Family Offenses and Adoptions. The YASI software helps to produce a comprehensive Pre-Dispositional Report in PINS and JD matters. |
